Parliamentary diplomacy · Cooperation
The National Transition Council conducts parliament-to-parliament, people-to-people diplomacy, which complements the Government's diplomacy. It aims to strengthen national sovereignty and diversify partnerships, first and foremost within the Confederation of Sahel States.
Three circles organise it: the Confederation, African and regional parliamentary networks, and the bilateral relations carried by the friendship groups.
The circles
From the closest to the widest: the Confederation of Sahel States, inter-parliamentary networks and bilateral relations. For each circle, the partners, what the Council does and the highlights reported on this site.
Circle I
The closest circle: building a common parliamentary space with Burkina Faso and Niger.
The Council takes part in the institutional construction of the Confederation: preparing the confederal sessions of parliaments, ratifying the additional protocols to the Treaty, authorising the agreements that give the confederal area its media.
